Snape’s Diary – Real Life Hogwarts and Trailer Coming Soon! – 11-23-15

Hiii everybody! Hope everyone has a bountiful and thankful thanksgiving this week! What a crazy November it has been for us! Lets start with the score. We just finished recording the final instruments, but Alex Arntzen our composer managed something amazing last week. In Budapest, Hungary, 65 musicians of string, brass and percussion came together to produce “The Storm Arrives”, a 2 and a half minute song that will play when the credits roll for the film! A full, professional orchestra played music for Snape & the Marauders!!! Next, conventions! We had three conventions so far just off our little teaser trailer! We’re having a blast sharing what we can with you guys, and can’t wait to show more! If you would like to check out one of the panels, here is the cast and director at Comikaze! Next, wanted to show you a little bit of progress on the visual effects side. We are about 25% done with visual effects, and we are prioritizing the shots that are getting into the next trailer. We are pretty sure that the film will now release early next year, as the VFX are just a little too ambitious and we need more time to get it done right. We have an internal release date for the film but we have a definite release date for the trailer! Tuesday, December 8th. The trailer will have an official release date for the film, but we have something special for our backers, and anyone who lives in London… Mick Ignis, our Snape, was invited to Oxford University, Magdalen Grove Auditorium, London UK, December 4th to present...

Snape Diary – Post Production Progress – 10-14-15

Hello Potterheads! Wanted to make sure we got everyone caught up with our progress, which in some departments is swift and steady, and others are slow but steady. Nature of making this ambitious film. We have finished the soundtrack for the film! Our music composer Alexander Arntzen did an amazing job. In the next couple weeks, we will be bringing on people to record live instruments! It will greatly enhance the score and give it a richness that synth instruments just cant do. We also have finished ADR with all the actors! Every actor had two or three lines where the audio could have been better, and now that everyone’s finished, it will sound smooth and seamless. Our sound designer Jordan King works regularly doing ADR with studios like Disney and Dreamworks, so we are in good hands 🙂 Perks are very close to being finished shipping. We have just started shipping $75 and up, and ordered most of the materials for all the perks. Please keep in mind as some people already receiving their perks were confused, that the DVD of the movie will be sent out only after the movie has released on YouTube. The slow part is visual effects. It’s always the slow part. The director has made movies with visual effects before and it is always the last part to be finished. Don’t get us wrong, our team is hard at work getting the visual effects done and are excited to see it all come together. While there is a chance it will delay our release of the film, we are still hustling to get it...

Snape Diary – Nerd-Con Panel & New Poster – 9/8/15

What’s up Potterheads! How you feeling going back to school? Or, work, or y’know, daily things you do. Just a quick update, we are steadily moving toward our goal of FINISHING this crazy film. It’s taking a while, but we’re moving forward. Goal is still to release by the end of the year, or very soon after 🙂 We had our very first panel! Nerd-Con 2015 in Escondido, CA was gracious enough to invite us to hang out in their awesome first convention! We had a big crowd and got a great reaction! We also taped it! Check it out below! We had an awesome time and can’t be thankful enough to the folks at Nerd-Con and the fans who were so fun and inviting and happy to hang with us! Other than that, got a meeting with the music composer Alex Arntzen tomorrow, working on getting ADR for a few lines with each actor, and the slow slog of visual effects. But we’re making progress! We swear! We are also making progress on the perks! We are about to send out the perks that included potions from Snape’s private stores! Soon after is wands, t-shirts and the rest 🙂 Keep an eye on the Facebook page for more regular updates. We recently debuted this gorgeous poster by Janie Walter and Liana Minassian, and will debut their accompanying posters at the weeks go along 🙂 Thanks so much for keeping in touch, and we look forward to showing more!                                       -The...

Snape Diary – NerdCon & The Sound of Music – 8/3/15

Hello Potterheads! Just a quick update on where we are at for the film.           Firstly, if you live in Orange County or near San Diego, you should come visit us at this year’s NerdCon! Saturday August 22nd at 3pm, we will have our own panel, and will be screening exclusive footage just for the con! Check it out here!             We have been diligent with the final aspects of making the film, which takes the longest time to do. I had a meeting with Jordan King where we did our first ADR session with Mick Ignis (Snape) and will move on to Garrett Schweighauser (James) and Kevin Allen (Sirius) next week. I had a meeting with Alexander Arntzen who has scored my last 5 films including Greater Good, and we are about 75% done with the score. It’s so exciting to hear the music of this film. As you know, a third of the film is an epic duel and Alex has done so well toward it. Even more exciting, we are going to record as many real instruments as possible to breathe even more life into it! Visual effects are chugging along slowly but surely. Since we can’t fundraise anymore, we have to go out of pocket which simply means it takes more time. But we do have a donate button if you are feeling generous…we really appreciate all the people that have helped us along so far. We still think we are on the right track for the end of the year, but the VFX are very important to...

Snape Diary Special Edition – IP Violations and Warner Bros Love

Hello everybody! Your friendly neighborhood director, here. I feel compelled to answer a burning question. Something that several people have asked and we feel needs clarification. Specifically having to do with copyright infringement and the taken down Kickstarter. Back in January of this year, I got a call from Warner Bros legal. Ensuring that I don’t have a heart attack, the very nice woman quickly assured me that we can still release the film. Basically they said that as of this year, they will be cracking down on crowd funding campaigns that have to do with their intellectual property, or IP. They asked us not to raise any more money through official means like kickstarter or indiegogo, and not to offer any more merchandise as reward. They did say however, that we can still distribute the perks we originally promised, which we are in the process of doing. We knew this might be a risk going in. Some companies hold their IPs very closely, and others are more generous. Luckily Warner Bros has been gracious with us, and we look forward to showing them just how much we love the books and their movies with our own little tribute. We hope this helps with any confusion. We are working diligently to finish the film, which is deep into completing visual effects. Our goal for release is the end of the year. And if you haven’t seen the trailer yet, which has been featured WAY more than we thought it would in news like BBC America, Hypable and The Mirror, here it is...

Snape Diary – 7/17/15

Hello everybody! Goodness what a week! We released the first teaser trailer and it’s a little surprising how much press we received! Check it out for yourself if you haven’t already 🙂   We hope you enjoy and we are hard at work on finishing the film. We are pushing for the end of the year, but it’s a lot of visual effects. Not just spells, but cleanup, inserting moving characters into painting frames, and matte paintings! If you feel so inclined, you can help us finish the film quicker and send a generous pledge 😉 the more money we get, the faster we finish! We also are pleased to announce that we will be holding a panel at this year’s NerdCon!. Our panel is under the name Broad Strokes and will happen August 22nd at 3:00pm. The director and actors will be there to talk about the film, along with showing off a little extra footage 🙂 We hope you get a chance to see us! You guys have been so supportive and amazing. We hope you can stick with us until the film is finished, and beyond! -Broad Strokes...
